A welcome message worth reading

Most welcome bots give you one line of text and a colour picker. This one gives you the builder.

Ayako | Welcome comes with an embed builder and a Components-V2 builder, both inside Discord. Design your welcome, save it under a name, and point the greeting at that name. Change the design later and the greeting follows.

Design it yourself 🎨

/embed-builder create builds a classic Discord embed. /component-builder create builds a Components-V2 message, the newer format that holds buttons, sections and image galleries.

Save either one under a name. In /settings automation welcome, type that name. If you save both, the Components-V2 one is used.

Six placeholders fill themselves in wherever you write them, including inside buttons and nested sections:

Not ready to design anything? Leave it empty and you get a clean default line.

A different GIF every time 🎞️

Pick a channel and point the bot at it. Everything your members post there becomes the pool, and each greeting draws one at random.

Attachments, plain image links and Tenor links all count, and a Tenor share link is converted into the actual GIF so it renders as an image. Delete the message and the image leaves the pool. Delete the channel and everything from it goes with it.

Write {{gif}} in your design and the image lands exactly there. Leave it out and the bot attaches it at the bottom.

The part most welcome bots get wrong 🚪

If your server has a rules screen, new members show up twice: once the moment they arrive, still pending, and again when they accept your rules.

Greeting them on the first one means greeting a profile that may never come back, and your welcome channel fills with messages for people who never actually joined.

This bot notes the arrival and says nothing. When they accept, it greets them. If they leave while still pending, no goodbye is sent either.

A separate message with its own channel, its own saved design and its own mentions. Turn it on on its own, or leave it off.

Set up inside Discord ⚙️

Everything sits in /settings automation welcome: the channel, the saved design, whether the new member is mentioned, which roles and members get pinged above the message, and the GIF channel.

There is also a Test button. It sends the real message to the real channel with you standing in for the new member, and it works while the greeting is still switched off.

What it asks for 🪶

• 4 permissions: View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Mention Everyone.
• Mention Everyone is only so the role mentions above your greeting actually ping.
• No moderation permissions. It cannot ban, kick or time anyone out.
• Free. No premium tier and no paid plan.
