got tired of setting up servers by hand

Every time I started a new server it was the same evening: create a category, create six channels inside it, open each one, set the topic, set the slowmode, then go into permissions and click through the overwrites one role at a time. Then do it again for the next category. Then realise two days later that the staff channel was visible to everyone because I missed one toggle.

So I built this. Pick a template, look at exactly what it's about to create, press one button. Forty seconds later the server is done — roles, categories, channels, topics, slowmodes, permissions, all of it.

And because I broke my own server testing an early version of this, I made sure you can undo the whole thing with one command.

How you use it

Run /setup start and you get a list of templates. Choose one and I show you everything first — the full channel tree, the roles it adds, and any problems I spotted, like my role sitting too low to create yours properly.

Nothing is created until you press the button. Then you watch a progress bar and it's finished.

About the scary part

I know what "a bot that can create and delete channels" sounds like. Here's how I handle it:

It only adds. Your existing channels, roles and messages aren't touched. Ever. Building on a server that already has stuff in it is safe.

You can take it all back. /setup undo removes exactly what I created and nothing else. I log every channel and role ID as I make it, so even if a build fails halfway through, the cleanup is still complete. Channels you made yourself afterwards stay exactly where they are.

I check before I touch anything. Permissions, role hierarchy, your remaining channel and role limits, whether your template is even valid. If something's wrong you get a clear message instead of a server that's half-built.

The delete-everything mode is behind a wall on purpose. If you want me to wipe the server before rebuilding it, you have to type the server's name to confirm. No button you can misclick at 3am.

Each one has a real role hierarchy already wired up, with staff sections locked down properly.

The feature I'm actually proud of

Discord's built-in server templates can't do this.

/setup export takes whatever server you're in and hands you back a template file — every channel, category, role, permission overwrite, topic and slowmode, as JSON you can download.

/setup import deploys that file into any other server.

If you run more than one server, or you set servers up for other people, this is the whole point. Build the layout you like once, then redeploy it anywhere in seconds. Open the file in Notepad first if you want to rename things or add a channel — I validate it on upload, so a typo gets you a helpful error, not a broken server.

Everything requires Administrator and replies privately, so nobody watches you configuring the server.
