Build Kizuna Bonds by: • Visiting, talking, and going on dates • Making a weekly Promise • Using Candy, Roses, or Gifts to boost affection

Push affection high enough and you can Propose — spend a Ring you may have earned from dated to have a shot at Devoted status. Someone already claimed it? There's a protection window, but it doesn't last forever.

Neglect a bond too long and affection bottoms out to zero — every copy of that character you own throws a tantrum and locks out of PvP and the market for a few days. A Rose or Gift can talk an active tantrum down early, or keep a shield up beforehand and it never happens at all.
