Counting with Mambo

Counting with Mambo is for communities that want more than a basic number chain. It combines persistent counting, user progression, achievements, saves, moderation tools, detailed statistics, anti-cheat logging, global leaderboards, milestone celebrations, and manually reviewed rewards into one complete system.

The bot allows members to count together in a dedicated channel while still chatting normally. Only messages containing a number by itself are treated as counting attempts, so users can continue sending regular messages, images, GIFs, stickers, and attachments without interfering with the count.

Each server has its own counting channel, current number, rounds, statistics, and moderation settings, while all participating servers are connected to one central database. This allows the bot owner to monitor overall activity, verify contribution totals, detect suspicious changes, and review reward claims across every server using the bot.

• Counting System

Members must enter the next correct number in sequence. Correct entries are recorded permanently and receive a confirmation reaction.

The same person cannot count twice in a row, which encourages multiple members to participate. Invalid counting attempts are handled without blocking normal conversation.

The bot tracks:

The count is stored in a persistent SQLite database, meaning progress remains saved even when the bot is restarted or temporarily taken offline.

• Saves and Autosave

Every user begins with three saves when they first participate. Saves protect the current round when a user accidentally enters the wrong number.

Users earn one additional save for every thirty correct numbers they contribute.

Members can choose whether their saves are used automatically with the autosave system. When autosave is enabled, an available save is consumed after an eligible mistake instead of allowing the round to reset.

The bot tracks:

Saves do not automatically refill after a round reset. Members must earn additional saves through continued participation.

• Statistics and Profiles

Every participant has detailed personal statistics.

The bot can display:

• Achievements and Titles

Members can unlock achievements by participating in the counting system.

Achievements may be awarded for:

Reaching specific contribution totals Entering important milestone numbers Earning saves Using saves Maintaining long counting streaks Participating in multiple rounds Reaching high lifetime contribution totals

Achievements can include emoji badges and special titles displayed in the user’s profile.

The achievement system gives long-term participants visible progression beyond simply increasing the number.

• Leaderboards

The bot includes both server-based and global leaderboards.

Leaderboards can rank users by:

The global leaderboard combines verified activity across every server using the bot, while server leaderboards show activity only within the current community.

• Current Count and Round Information

The /current command displays important round information, including:

The current accepted number The next required number The current round The most recent contributor Relevant round details

This makes it easy for members to confirm where the count currently stands.

• Staff Controls

Server staff members with the required permissions have access to moderation and recovery tools.

Staff can:

Configure the counting channel Configure a private review channel Change the current count Restore the count after trolling Reset the current round Review user statistics Add or remove confirmed troll strikes Export round logs Investigate suspicious counting attempts

The /setcount command allows staff to correct the count when someone deliberately disrupts the sequence or when a technical issue occurs.

Every staff correction is permanently logged with:

The previous number The new number The staff member responsible The reason provided The date and time of the correction

This prevents silent or hidden manipulation of the count.

Troll Detection and Moderation

The bot distinguishes between likely mistakes and obvious troll attempts.

For example, when the expected number is 46:

Entering 45, 47, or another nearby number may be treated as an accident. Entering 876, 98383, or another unreasonable jump may be marked as suspicious.

Suspicious attempts can be logged for staff review without immediately destroying the current round.

Confirmed troll strikes can lead to escalating moderation actions:

Initial confirmed offenses are recorded. Reaching the strike threshold can result in a one-day timeout. Further offenses can result in a one-week timeout. Continued trolling can result in a longer timeout or staff review.

The bot records suspected attempts separately from confirmed strikes, helping staff avoid punishing honest mistakes.

• Detailed Logs and Anti-Cheat Verification

Every accepted count is stored in a detailed activity log.

The log includes:

Users and staff can export logs as CSV files for verification.

The bot can compare stored contribution totals against the actual accepted-number history. If the totals do not match, the system can flag the account or round for investigation.

The bot supports multiple Discord servers at the same time.

All servers use one central database hosted with the bot.

The bot owner does not need to personally belong to every server using the bot. As long as the bot is installed in a server, it can record and manage that server’s counting activity.

• Owner-Only Global Management

The owner of the bot application has access to private global management commands.

These commands are restricted to the Discord account that owns the bot and cannot be used by regular server administrators.

Owner tools can display:

This allows Heatmanga to verify activity and detect cheating even in servers where Heatmanga is not personally present.

The central database remains private on the bot’s hosting server. Other server owners cannot directly access or download it.

• Milestone Celebrations

The bot sends a congratulatory message whenever an important number is reached.

The message mentions the exact user who entered the milestone number.

• Reward System (just for fun and out of my own pocket)

The bot includes a manually reviewed reward system.

Users can view available reward goals through /rewards.

Rewards are never delivered automatically.

A user who believes they qualify can submit a claim. The bot then checks the available records and creates a proof package for manual review.

Heatmanga (me) must verify the claim before it can be approved.

The review process includes:

Checking the accepted count log Confirming the user entered the required milestone Comparing contribution totals against detailed records Reviewing staff corrections Checking for resets or suspicious activity Reviewing troll attempts Verifying the original Discord message Exporting the relevant proof as a CSV file Confirming that the reward has not already been claimed

Claim statuses include:

Even when the bot marks a user as eligible, the reward is not guaranteed until Heatmanga manually reviews and approves the proof.

• Owner Commands

Owner commands are available only to Heatmanga, the owner of the Discord bot application.

They include tools for:

The bot stores only information required for counting, moderation, statistics, anti-cheat verification, and rewards.

The bot does not need to store ordinary chat messages. Normal conversation is ignored unless the message contains only a number and is treated as a counting attempt.

All progress is stored persistently, so restarting or temporarily stopping the bot does not erase the count or user statistics.
